Laundry Hotel Room

We're here in Frankfurt again. We asked at the hotel reception about a laundromat (our clothes are stinky!) but everything is closed today because of a marathon. Even the train was closed today, and our receptionist, Olga, had to take a taxi to work at a cost of 30 Euros!

Yesterday there was a festival in Mulhouse (Festival of the Automobile - wonderful) and today there was something going on in Rhinau as we went through, so this seems to be an important weekend in Germany as well as in the USA. Or maybe it's just one of the few summer weekends available for big happenings, as happens in the USA.

Our day was filled with wonderful detours looking for the roads closest following the Rhine River northward. We did a great job, and Mom indulged me many times as I saw an interesting bird and whipped around to go look at it in more detail. I saw some swans, various kinds of ducks, and other Unidentified Flying Birds (UFBs).

We ended up washing our laundry in the hotel sink (brought dry laundry soap along just for this need, and have used it many times) and we draped the wet stuff on the concrete wall behind the hotel. It's almost dry and almost dark, so I brought it all in and draped it on any available drapable place in the room. So we have a laundry-hotel room!

Tomorrow - Reykjavik, where it won't be warm enough to dry anything. The inside of my nose will feel great for once.
